LASVIT and Rony Plesl will embellish January´s Maison Objet with their breathtaking Uovo Black Pearl

13.1.2012
LASVIT and Rony Plesl are proud to present their very first collaboration at Maison Objet in Paris. Lasvit – leading designer and manufacturer of glass art installations connected with the respected Czech product designer Rony Plesl.
The duo is coming to Paris with a unique glass art piece – an installation which reminds its observer of a great Tahitian black pearl caught in the ocean. Uovo Black Pearl will be displayed from January 20-24th as a part of the official participation of the Czech Republic organized by Ministry of Industry and Trade at the joint Czech booth at Hall 8, booth A113-B114.
Like something from a fairytale, Uovo Black Pearl sparkles like a radiant and mystical gem in a faraway land. This reflective art glass lighting sculpture shines like a mountain of precious rounded mirrors, capturing nearby objects and multiplying them to infinity.
LASVIT and Rony Plesl, expert product designer, artistically crafted Uovo Black Pearl using glassblowing techniques. Nearly invisible wire suspends each sculpture’s many golden or silver eggs. Together, the mirrored surface of the design playfully interacts with each other and the nearby surroundings. Uovo Black Pearl exudes matchless charm and creativity due to the fact that it’s been designed with exceptional technique. Stainless steel hardware and LEDs complete this majestic piece.
Lasvit and Rony Plesl had presented two other „Uovo“ design pieces last October in Prague, the Czech Republic, at the Designblok, the most significant design event in the country.
One of the sculptures, Uovo d’argento, comprises silver eggs, handcrafted by silvering clear blown-glass components from the inside. The matching piece, Uovo d’oro, features golden eggs, with the colouring achieved by silvering the insides of amber glass components.
All three Uovo (or Egg) designs are made in two versions, the large and the small. At the large version the finished designs are nearly two metres high, 1.2 metres wide, and 130 kilograms in weight. The smaller pieces are 1,2 metres high, 800 metres wide and 100 kilograms in weight.
Uovo d´oro, Uovo d´argento and Uovo Black Pearl are part of the LASVIT Collection.
